South Florida-based director, and storyteller turning culture into content, one frame at a time.

ABOUT

Taylor Jay is a creative director, filmmaker, and photographer whose work lives at the intersection of culture, identity, and cinematic storytelling. Based in South Florida, she builds worlds from lived experience, centering Black, queer, and Southern narratives with honesty, intention, and technical precision.

Her debut scripted series, So'Flo the Series, a Black LGBTQ+ dramedy set in the heart of South Florida, earned a Finalist distinction at the 2025 Urban Film Festival, marking a defining moment in her independent filmmaking career. As the founder of The Love Below Collective, a Black-owned, woman-led creative brand, Taylor directs, produces, and develops original content that creates space for stories often left outside the frame.

Taylor holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Full Sail University and a BA in Theatre Arts from Florida A&M University. Her production experience spans projects for Netflix, Peacock/NBCU, MRC, and Lionsgate, sets that sharpened her technical fluency and deepened her understanding of storytelling at scale. That on-set foundation, paired with her academic training, informs a directorial approach that is character-driven, culturally grounded, and visually intentional.

She is the author of The Love Below, a poetry memoir exploring love, identity, and healing, and the host of The Love Below Podcast. In 2024, she was recognized in Voyage Miami Magazine's Hidden Gems series for her growing influence in Miami's creative and media community.

Taylor Jay doesn't just tell stories, she builds the infrastructure for stories to exist. Her work honors the unseen, amplifies the underrepresented, and keeps culture at the center of every frame.
